In addition to mangrove planting, the event was also enlivened by cultural attractions that reflected the spirit of friendship and cooperation between countries.

Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov, said the event was held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Russia's Victory in the Great Patriotic War or World War II.

"Through this activity, we remember those who have fought and sacrificed their lives for the future of the next generation," he said, Sunday (5/10).

Sergei explained that tree planting is a concrete step in maintaining environmental sustainability while building a better future for future generations.

Head of the Forestry Division of the Jakarta City Parks and Forestry Agency, Romy Sidharta, said that the mangrove planting was not just a reforestation initiative, but also a symbol of respect for the history and sacrifices of previous generations.

"Through the international Garden of Memory campaign, the spirit of remembering struggles and sacrifices is translated into real actions that benefit future generations," he said.

According to him, the Angke Kapuk Mangrove Protected Forest area was chosen because of its strategic role as an ecological fortress for Jakarta. Mangroves are considered crucial for protecting coastal areas from abrasion, absorbing carbon emissions, and maintaining the balance of the marine ecosystem.

He hopes that this activity can be the beginning of broader collaboration between Jakarta and Russia, not only in the environmental field, but also in culture, education, and other international relations.

"Hopefully, this mangrove planting can increase the area of ​​green open space while strengthening Jakarta's climate resilience as a sustainable global city," he hoped.

Meanwhile, Director of Russian House Jakarta, Nikita Sergeevich Shilikov, said that 100 mangrove seedlings were planted during the activity.

Cross-border collaboration is a crucial step in creating a better environment for the world's future.

Thanks to the support of the Jakarta Provincial Government, this initiative was made possible to save the planet and preserve rare trees.
